Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro Electric Scooter Review
Welcome to the latest edition of our blog in which we look at another one of the newbies here at Electra-Zoom and that’s the Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro. With more range and speed than its lower cost counter-part, the Mantis 8 Eco, it’s a well built, well-proportioned and proper nippy addition to the Electra-Zoom electric scooter range. So is it worth the additional money?
As with all things Kaabo, the build quality on the Mantis 8 Pro+ is simply fantastic. The stem and deck are solid and there is no speed wobble like you get on many mid-range electric scooters.
The reason we mention speed wobble is purely down to the amount of power that this scooter packs. Kaabo has added dual 800W motors in the Mantis 8 Pro+ to give the rider that extra bit of oomph when pulling away.
How Powerful is the Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro+?
When we tested the Mantis 8 Pro+ on a flat tarmac surface outside our unit in Gloucester, we found that from 0 to 15 mph took just 2.5 seconds. It then reached approximately 25 mph in just over 5 seconds and topped out at an impressive 35 mph in just over 12 seconds. Of course, the speeds you’ll achieve are determined by your weight and the surface you’re on however, we felt that 35 mph in little over 10 seconds was impressive for a scooter with this price tag.
The motors in this nippy electric scooter are powerful enough to push you up inclines of up to 30% with ease. Great if you live in a hilly area.
The motors are powered by a high quality Samsung 48V 24.5 Ah battery as opposed to the LG equivalent that we found in previous models. This gives the scooter 1176 watt hours of power and will continue to power you and your scooter for around the 45 mile point, dependant on the number of inclines you have conquered in that distance.
The manufacturers claim that the maximum rider weight for the Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro+ is 120 kgs so it will handle larger riders where other mid-range scooter will not.
The ride quality is great due to the power delivery, stiff stem and dual suspension. It allows the rider to control the speed and manoeuvre confidently on most terrains.
Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro+ Components
In order to bring all that momentum and speed to a halt Kaabo added ZOOM hydraulic disc brakes with ABS. These provide ample stopping power when slowing from a full speed run. They provide gradual braking rather than slamming straight on and throwing you over the bars.
The braking is delivered by the two finger levers on the handlebars. They are slightly further away from the bars than normal so they can be an issue for users with smaller hands.
The cockpit is the Minimotors EY3 throttle that you’ll find on all the high end Dualtron scooters. This has an acceleration lever and provides access to all the main functions you’ll need on the Mantis 8 Pro+ electric scooter.
Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro + Portability
So how portable is the Mantis 8 Pro+? Weighing in at 27 kgs it may not be the lightest electric scooter in the world but then again 27 kgs is nowhere near the weight of the larger Dualtron Scooters, which weigh in well over 40 kgs.
The folding mechanism is fairly simple and extremely strong so once the Mantis 8 Pro+ is folded down it measures just 114 cm long by 61 cm wide by 48 cm tall, so it will fit into most car boots.
So, to answer the question, for a dual motor electric scooter with the specifications this electric scooter has, we feel it is relatively portable.
The Mantis 8 Pro+ is furnished with dual suspension to help make the ride feel comfortable and smooth. This also helps to account for the smallish 8 inch pneumatic tyres. The tyres are great on tarmac and concrete but can struggle slightly on rougher surfaces.

There is so much more to cover with the Mantis 8 Pro+ scooter but we’ll look at more in the not too distant future. In summary, we think that the Kaabo Mantis 8 Pro+ Electric Scooter is a great all-rounder. It comes with enough power to give you a rush but not too much that you’ll hurt yourself.
The suspension gives you a smooth ride whilst the riding experience is nippy and comfortable. All that and the mid-range price tag make it a stunning looking bit of kit for a high end feel electric scooter.
