Our latest blog is continuing to look at some of our latest electric scooters in a bit more detail. In this case we are looking at a one of our favourites in the higher end of our range, the Dualtron Thunder Electric Scooter.
The Dualtron Thunder is a serious bit of kit. It is regularly referred to as a ‘beast’, and as soon as you ride it you’ll find out why!
Dualtron have a reputation for producing electric scooters with a fantastic build quality. These things rarely break or fail in anyway and the Thunder is no different.
How Fast is the Dualtron Thunder Electric Scooter?
The Dualtron Thunder will accelerate from 0 to 15 mph (24km/h) in just 2.1 seconds and will continue to accelerate all the way up to a lip flapping 50 mph! This is delivered by the Thunder’s dual 2700 watt brushless motors producing a combined 5400 watts of power. We found that if you floor it, often both wheels will spin, so watch out for that.
Of course, with such powerful motors you will need a very powerful battery to support them and that’s what you get with the Thunder. It comes with 2060 watt hour battery pack constructed using LG lithium-ion cells.
Dualtron make claims that the combination of battery pack, with those motors, allows this fast electric scooter to travel with a range of up to 105 km or 65 miles however, in most cases the manufacturers claims are more than the real life experience so we would expect it to be nearer 45 to 50 miles before the power drops away.
With so much power moving you forward you need some serious stopping power and the Dualtron Thunder has that covered as well. It comes with huge 160mm electronic ABS hydraulic and ventilated disc brakes, which are hugely effective.
To ensure you get a smooth ride on the Dualtron Thunder it has been constructed with front and rear cartridge suspension and 27.9 cm pneumatic tyres.
All that power means that it can take heavier riders without flinching. The manufacturer claims that the Dualtron Thunder Electric Scooter has a max’ rider weight of up to 150kgs.
Is the Dualtron Thunder Portable?
The Thunder is designed to be portable but you’ll need to be reasonably strong. It comes with a folding stem and handlebars that lock into the folded position however, it weighs 43kgs, so you may need help getting it up the stairs or into the boot of a vehicle.
The aluminium handlebars, as described above, fold down and are spring-loaded which are operated by using the cocking levers, then pushing the bars down into the folded position. It features ergonomically shaped handlebar grips making long rides more comfortable. Then on the left hand side of the bars you have a brake lever and the powerful forward lighting controls. There is also the single/dual motor control options button.
The right hand side of the bars features the second brake lever, display panel and index finger controlled accelerator.
Dualtron has included some fairly cool lighting options with the Thunder. It comes with front and rear facing button LED lights and there are also stem lights and underside deck lights, all of which are controlled by a remote control.
